Plus I have a major soft-spot for the Hive honestly. The score is great, the practical effects are good and even the CGI isn't god-awful. I mean sure the mutating Licker is kinda dumb but having watched the behind-the-scenes a lot of care went into the movie.
It keeps to the source material and expands upon it just enough.
As a self-contained movie I'd go so far as to say it does /well/. So for the longest time I was firmly on-board with the general trend of 'The series is complete trash and jumped the shark' (sort of like RE6) but upon rewatching the first movie with an open mind I have to say I've drastically shifted on it.ĭon't get me wrong I've always had a genuine soft-spot for the series and while the movie may be firmly rooted in the year it was created I think there's a lot to love about the movie.
